Now available: New parent-friendly influenza vaccination resources from SKAI

New influenza vaccination resources for parents are now available from Sharing Knowledge About Immunisation (SKAI).
Written specifically for parents, the resources are designed to support their influenza vaccination information needs and guide them in their decision to vaccinate.

Available on the SKAI for Parents and the SKAI for Providers websites, the resources include:

(1) general information for parents who are ready to vaccinate against influenza, and
(2) a Q&A for parents who may have questions about influenza vaccination.

Influenza vaccination is recommended and is free for all children from six months to under five years. Influenza vaccination is also free for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including all children from six months of age.

The influenza vaccination resources, developed by the NCIRS Social Science Unit in collaboration with Dr Nina Chad, complement resources for routine childhood vaccinations already available on the SKAI websites.

The SKAI communication package is a suite of vaccination communication support tools and resources designed to facilitate conversations about childhood vaccination between parents and healthcare providers. It was developed by Professor Julie Leask and Dr Nina Chad, with input from Associate Professor Margie Danchin, Professor Lyndal Trevena, Dr Penelope Robinson and support from the NCIRS Social Science Unit.
