        The Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2023 – the seventeenth in the series – examines Australian Immunisation Register data for children, adolescents and adults, providing a detailed summary of changes in vaccination coverage rates in Australia between 2022 and 2023. The report shows that fully vaccinated coverage in children again decreased across Australia, for the third consecutive year. For the first time, the summary version of the report is available in a user-friendly online format.

It details vaccination coverage among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and brings to light the impacts of geographic remoteness and socio-economic status, as well as the COVID-19 pandemic, on vaccination coverage rates in Australia.

        Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2022

        The Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2022 examines Australian Immunisation Register data for children, adolescents and adults to offer a detailed picture of changes in vaccination coverage rates in Australia between 2021 and 2022. It is the first study of its kind to comprehensively document the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on vaccination coverage in Australia. The report shows that fully vaccinated coverage in children has declined across Australia since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Among other findings, it also reveals that pandemic impacts on vaccination coverage were greater in remote areas with a high proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

        Evaluation of Indigenous status completeness in vaccine preventable disease notification data in the NNDSS

        2023

        This report provides a comprehensive evaluation of factors influencing the quality and completeness of Indigenous status for vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS). In 2016–2019 Indigenous status completeness at the national level was over 90% for most VPDs in the NNDS, but lower for influenza (37.4%), pertussis (59.2%) and rotavirus (69.7%), all of which are high incidence diseases either fully or predominantly notified by laboratories, with some variation by jurisdiction and age group.
