The AIR has introduced new ‘due’ and ‘overdue’ rules to support recent NIP changes. The rules will apply to the following cohorts:
Note: Adults who have previously received a pneumococcal vaccination (i.e. Prevenar 13 and Pneumovax 23) will appear as ‘due’ in the AIR for a 21-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Capvaxive) 12 months after their most recent vaccination.
The new AIR due and overdue rules are available on the Services Australia’s website.
Due information will display for vaccination providers in the AIR site and clinical information software (integrated with the AIR).
An individual’s Immunisation History Statement will display when they are due for an RSV and/or pneumococcal vaccine, and a reminder letter will be sent if they become overdue.
Approximately 50% of FluMist administrations have been reported incorrectly to the AIR as ‘NIP/Commonwealth’ via the ‘Vaccine type’ field.
As FluMist is only funded through state and territory programs or purchased privately, these administrations should be reported as ‘Other’.
