These pages summarise findings from NCIRS’ Annual Immunisation Coverage Report 2023 – the seventeenth in this series of reports, which now covers the years 2007–2023.

The full 2023 report, as well as previous reports and summaries, can be accessed here.

This report aims to inform immunisation policy by offering a comprehensive analysis of vaccination coverage and timeliness trends in Australia, as well as interpretation of their relationship to factors including policy and program changes.

It complements and extends on other vaccination coverage data published by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

The 2023 report is the fourth in the series to report ‘whole-of-life’ vaccination coverage.

Australian Immunisation Register data as at 4 February 2024 were analysed – predominantly for National Immunisation Program-funded vaccines – for children, adolescents and adults, with a focus on changes in vaccination coverage since the previous (2022) report.

More detail on the methods used can be found in the full report.

Note: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are referred to, respectfully, as Indigenous people throughout this summary report.
